Game Recap

When a football team allows 25 points to be scored in the first quarter, you know the game won’t end up favorably. Such was the case when the Arabians found themselves in a hole that they could not get out of. Between fumbles, missed tackles and interceptions, we played poorly. We may have had 7 more first downs than the Tigers, out gained them on total yardage by 34 yards, and had 73 less yards in penalties, but the game was just too sloppy. Next up is our last game of the regular season at home as we celebrate Senior Night against a good Shelbyville team. Hopefully a great week of practice is in store for the Arabians.

Game Summary

The Yorktown Tigers drew first blood as their backup quarterback scampered for a 76 yard touchdown. The point after was no good. Five minutes later, the same runner scored on a 1 yard touchdown. The two point conversion attempt was also no good. A minute and a half later, the Tiger quarterback threw a pass for a 14 yard touchdown with another failed point after attempt and the Arabians were behind by 18 points. Finally getting into the scoring column, the Arabians scored on a 5 yard touchdown run by Evan Douglas. The point after attempt by Thomas Quiroga was good. The Yorktown Tigers added insult to injury as they scored again 36 seconds later on a 10 yard pass play. Their point after was good.

The second quarter saw the Arabian defense stiffen as they kept the Tigers from scoring. Unfortunately, the Pendleton Heights offense could not score either.

The half time talk by the coaches must have been effective as the defense did not allow any points to be scored by the Yorktown Tigers. The Arabian offense got on track twice as Thomas Quiroga kicked a 29 yard field goal and five minutes later Kirby Hess made a strong pass to Eli Pancol for a 29 yard touchdown. The kick by Thomas Quiroga was good.

Being within 8 points of the Tigers at the start of the 4th quarter was a good sign since our defense was playing well. Unfortunately for the Arabians, our young offense could not score either even though we had several opportunities.
