CHAMPIONS 101 SCHEDULED FOR 8/14 HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL 10/22 – SAME LOCATION AND TIME!
Pendleton Heights is excited to announce that the Champions 101 Sports Parenting Workshop is coming to the high school on Monday, October 22, 2018. This engaging, interactive one-hour presentation will take place in the PHHS Pit starting at 7:00 pm, and you are invited to attend! The cost to attend is $10 at the door.
What is Champions 101? Like any “101” course, Champions 101 is focused on the basics – the foundation of what great sports parenting looks like and all it requires. It’s designed to help parents raise athletes and people who reach their full potential, in sports and in life.
Champions don’t become champions on accident. If you’re serious about helping your child experience unique levels of success on the playing field and beyond, then you have to see clearly what it takes – this job requires the right perspective. We’ll have some fun outlining how most parents do it wrong, and how you can learn to do it right. In our time together, you’ll see:
-how to avoid the biggest mistake sports parents today are commonly making.
-how to develop the talents of a champion in your child:
*Loving the Game
*Giving His Best
*Being a Teammate
*Having a Positive Attitude
-how to help your child reach his/her full potential as an athlete.
-how to separate your child from those he’ll/she’ll be competing with and against for life.
-how to use your child’s experience in sports to prepare him/her for a lifetime of success, both personally & professionally.
-how to make your sports parenting experience more meaningful and more fun.
Is Champions 101 for you? Since every young athlete is somewhere in the process of their development, every sports parent – from high school to junior high to youth teams, for both boys and girls – will benefit from this workshop. If you’re the committed parent of the committed athlete, you’ll be challenged and encouraged. If you’re the casual parent of the casual athlete, the same is true for you. Anyone who wants their experience to be more valuable and worthwhile will benefit. In short, if you’re serious about helping your child become his/her very best, then Champions 101 is for you.
Who will be leading Champions 101? Travis Daugherty, the author of The LENS: Raising a Champion Athlete and Man in Today’s Myopic World, will lead the workshop. Travis has served as a head high school basketball coach in the state of Indiana for 14 years, where his teams have won nearly 200 games, and was honored as the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2008. Additionally, Travis serves as the Assistant Director and Leadership Development Speaker for Higher Level Father-Son Basketball Camps. His experience and leadership will help you see for yourself who your child can become, and what it will take to get him/her there.
Can a one-hour workshop really make a lasting impact? It can and it will! Champions 101 will change the way you look at sports parenting and uncover new opportunities for helping your child reach their potential. Raising and developing a champion isn’t easy. It’s a long, challenging journey, and this is your introduction. It will set (or re-set) you in the right direction, equip you with the tools you need, and move you towards your desired destination: your child built for real, authentic success in sports and in life.
This is a great opportunity to learn and improve. We hope to see you there!
