The girls basketball team lost a close one to Lapel in the Madison County Semi-Finals, 54-53 on Thursday night. The loss sent the Lady Arabians into the consolation game on Saturday evening. Poor shooting in the first half led to a 14 point deficit at halftime but the ladies showed a lot of grit in the second half. An untimely technical foul on the bench made the hill a bit steeper at the end but the green and white still worked for a chance to win.
Following a jump ball call, Pendleton Heights had the ball out on their own baseline with 4.1 seconds remaining. The inbound was sent to senior Megan Mills who tried to work into the lane among contact but couldn’t get a clean look off and missed at the buzzer.
Anderson defeated Alexandria in the second semi-final game on Thursday. The Lady Tribe trailed in the second half but a strong push in the 4th quarter put the game out of reach. The championship is set for Saturday night at 7:30 pm. The consolation game will tip at 6:00 pm and will feature Pendleton Heights and Alexandria.
Tickets to Saturday at Lapel will be available at the door for $6.00 per person (Kindergarten and up).
