IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (5-11-2020)
“Promoting education based athletics in Indiana”
This past week while reading old articles in Sports Illustrated I ran across a story on last year’s U. S. Amateur golf champion, Andy Ogletree. Andy grew up in a small town, Union, Mississippi, and now attends college at Georgia Tech.
By winning the Amateur Golf Tourney he automatically qualified for this year’s Masters, however, like all of us have experienced, it has been postponed until November. People from his hometown are scrambling to get tickets so they can go and support him.
The inspiring quote I took from the article was one that Ogletree has on his screen saver on his phone. It tells you a lot about his mindset and determination and helped drive him to his current day success in golf. “Today I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can do what others can’t.”
