The Arabian duo at #1 doubles of Kaleb Alumbaugh and Jackson McKinney lost in their bid to continue on in the State Doubles Tourney. When a team loses in tourney play, their season is done. However if the #1 singles or #1 doubles team wins their match….they then continue on in the State Singles or Doubles only tourney.
As the team lost in the sectional match, Kaleb and Jackson won their sectional match against Greenfield Central. They then were matched up against the #1 doubles team from Lawrence Central, Anthony Steinhardt (12) and Avery Hoppes (10).
The match started slow for the Arabians losing the first set 3-6. But in true fashion….they bounced back to win 5 consecutive games to win the second set 6-4 and take a 2-0 lead in the third set. However, the play swung the other way just enough for the Bears to take a 3-2 lead and maintained it to a 6-4 win.
The boys had a good season in playing together for the first time and finished with a 17-6 record, 5 of those 6 losses considered a “good” loss. Congrats to them for the good year they had playing together.
