The Boys’ Swim and Dive team won at home tonight against conference rival, New Palestine, 106-72.
The night started off strong with a first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay from the team of Jacob Simpson, Tyler Hollendonner, Trevor Cobb, and Ian Christian. The mid-distance swimmers posted points with a third place finish in the 200 Freestyle by Parker Christenson and fifth by Jake Mills. The boys then took 1-2-3 in the 200 Individual Medley, led by senior Oliver Claxon who touched the wall first followed by Simpson in second and Hollendonner in third.
Sprinting to a fast finish, senior Brayden Jones led the pack in the 50 Freestyle while Rett Lewis placed fourth and Parker Hammons fifth. Ashur Grobey continued to dominate on the board by breaking over 200 points in the 1 mtr Diving and placing first. The Arabians swept another 1-2-3 in the 100 Butterfly led by senior Cobb in first, followed by Simpson and Christian respectively. Jones continued his speed by winning the 100 Freestyle event with teammates Lewis in third and Hammons in fourth.
The long event of the night was dominated by the Arabians. Sophomore Kyle Kemper swam a solid 500 Freestyle race and led the pack with his first place finish, Christenson touched second and Mills third. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Jones, Hollendonner, Claxon, and Cobb placed second.
The boys finished strong in the final events of the evening placing 1-2 in the 100 Backstroke by Cobb and Christian and then 1-2-5 in the 100 Breaststroke by Claxon, Hollendonner, and Kemper. The win was solidified with a second place finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay by Jones, Simpson, Christian, and Claxon.
The boys will compete in the Hoosier Heritage Conference meet this Saturday, December 19 at New Palestine.
