The boys swimmers traveled with a lean roster to Shelbyville tonight. Despite strong performances in the pool, the boys fell 72-98.
The meet started out strong with a first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay by the team of Jacob Simpson, Tyler Hollendonner, Trevor Cobb, and Ian Christian. The boys continued with impressive individual races, posting points from at least two swimmers in each individual event. In the 200 Freestyle, Kyle Kemper placed third and Parker Christenson fifth. Freshman Simpson won the 200 Individual Medley with Hollendonner touching third. Then two Arabian teammates battled it out at the wall for a close finish in the 50 Freestyle, seniors Parker Hammons finished fourth and Rett Lewis fifth.
The second half of the meet posted a 1-2 finish in the 100 Butterfly with senior Cobb placing first and freshman Christian second. The senior sprinters met again at the wall with Lewis placing fourth and Hammons fifth in the 100 Freestyle. Simpson took his third win of the night in the 500 Freestyle placing first in the long event with teammate Christenson in fourth.
The team of Kemper, Christenson, Hammons, Lewis placed second in the 200 Freestyle Relay. The final events of the night proved to be good ones for the Arabians with Cobb in second in the 100 Backstroke followed by Christian in third. Junior Hollendonner won the 100 Breaststroke with teammate Kemper just behind in second. And the boys capped off the night with strong finishes from two teams in the 400 Freestyle Relay: Simpson, Christian, Hollendonner, and Cobb in second; Kemper, Lewis, Hammons, and Christenson in third.
The boys suit up again at 5:30 pm on Thursday, January 14 at home against Delta.
