Pendleton Heights High School vs Lapel High School
2 3

The Arabian boys tennis team gave a good scare into this year’s Madison County champs before losing 3-2 on the Bulldog courts. Walker Stull, playing well the past few weeks, fell to Jessie McCurdy 60, 60. McCurdy is probably a top 2 player in the District 4 region and has improved 10x from last year. Power, control, and precision kept Walker out of his game.
PH two points came at the #2 and #3 singles positions. Seth Moore won in straight sets and Kaleb Alumbaugh won in three sets. At #1 doubles, Jackson McKinney and Caleb King were overwhelmed by a good Lapel team. The match hung on the #2 doubles team of Evan Bobb and Nick Vetor. After a usual slow start, the duo came back to win the second set. The third and deciding set did not live up to the rest of the match. The Arabian duo came out flat and lifeless as Lapel jumped out early and hard on their way to a 6-0 set and win. Disappointing to lose, but proud that we fought hard.
We now stand at 6-4 with 4 matches scheduled before sectionals. Next Tuesday is our last home match and senior night, against the Trojans of New Castle. Wednesday we travel to powerhouse Delta.
