What an exciting night it was at the County Meet. I think Coach Baer summed up the night best when he said “Things Happen”. Things did happen and they lead to an Arabian victory last Night in the County. It came down to the last three events. The High Jump, 4×400 and the 3200m. In the high jump Eli Pancol cleared 6′ 4″ for the win and Freshman Caden McClain finished in third for 16 big points. The 3200m was next and the Arabians came up big again with Freshman Sean Roan winning and Caleb Martin fighting to the end for third just short of second. Last was an exciting 4x400m (Thomas Quiroga, Seth Ledford, Luke Upton, Milan Jones) that was a back forth race between us and Anderson. While we came up .6 short of the victory in the race it sealed the County victory for the Arabians. As exciting as the end of the meet was we did a lot of great work throughout the meet. It all started with the Pole Vault on Thursday with Anakin Allison and Freshman Nick Taylor scoring first and second in the pole vault. The winning 4×800 team of Caleb Harrington, Jayden Wenning, Sean Roan, and Cole Buck started Friday strong and set the tone for the meet. Seth Ledford ran to a strong third place in the 110H. Eli Pancol set a new meet record in the 200m dash with a winning time of 22.27. That is an excellent time this early in the season. Luke Upton and Milan Jones finished second and third in the 1600m and the 800m for some big points in those two events. The 4x100m (Brennan Jones, Caden McClain, Brennan Wrin, Seth Ledford) held off Lapel for a needed second place finish. Seth Ledford got a big second place finish in the 300m hurdles. Eli Pancol jumped to a second place finish in the long jump. Congratulations to Eli Pancol for winning the John McCord Athlete of the Meet. As you can see this was a total team effort. I wanted to thank Payton Burmeister for moving from the distance group to sprint in this meet and getting big points in the 100,200. I also wanted to thank the seniors for the hard work they put in all these years and having it payoff with a championship this year. Finally I have to thank my assistant coaches Baer, Joyce, Romwalter and Huth for all the hard work they do. This is just the beginning to great things this season.
