We had a great meet last night at the Hoosier State Relays. We sent two relays to the meet and both came back with medals and all state honors. The first relay to compete was the 4x800m relay of Jayden Wenning 2:05 Milan Jones 2:01 Sean Roan 2:06 and Luke Upton 2:00 running to a 7th place finish. That group was seeded 12th coming into the meet and ran an outstanding race against the best in the state. That performance was a great start and led to more drama in the next race the DMR. The DMR was seeded 23rd coming into the race. The old saying is that is why you run the race. That was true today because the Arabians were ready to compete. Coach Baer told me on the bus on the way to the meet they were going to win the heat and have a chance to score. That is exactly what they did holding off Zionsville in the first and slower of the heats. The drama came when the second heat finished and they posted us out of the top 8. Avon was posted ahead of us but they finished a lap short and that moved the Arabians into the 8th spot. The DMR team was Milan Jones, Thomas Quiroga 53.1, Caleb Martin 2:08 and Luke Upton 4:28. That team improved 22 seconds from the seed time. I was really proud how the team preformed last night and how they competed on the track. I wanted to thank coach Baer for doing a great job getting the boys ready to compete, Cole Buck for helping the team qualify and all the people who braved the weather and came out to support us. This is a great start to the season and to more successes yet to come.
