The Lady Arabian swimmers and divers defended their undefeated season tonight on the road against conference rival, Shelbyville. Proving the breadth and depth of their roster, the ladies won 130-54.
The girls swept the 200 Medley Relay event with the team of Clara McIntyre, Catherine Dudley, Jaima Link, and Mallory Gentry placing first and the team of Isabel Blosser, Ella Dixon, Ellie Ray, and Alia Walters placing second. The 200 Freestyle was won by junior Grace McKinney with Stella Payne in third and Aynsley Kuckewich in fifth. Link led the pack in the 200 Individual Medley with an in-season best time and first place finish followed by Sophie Kaster in second and Addison Williams in fourth. Freshman M. Gentry stepped up and placed first in the 50 Freestyle with teammates Dixon in third and Walters in fifth.
The Lady Arabians again showed their strength on the board when the divers posted valuable points. Maddie Heineman won the 1 mtr Diving even with Zoe Kessler placing fourth and Dani Crehan fifth. Pendleton swept the 100 Butterfly with a 1-2-3 finish led by Link, then Kennedy Safford and Kasha Lincoln. The 100 Freestyle was a strong event with M. Gentry finishing second, Kaster third and Walters fourth.
Dominating the long event of the night, McKinney led the pack and won the 500 Freestyle with teammates Payne in second and Allison Gentry in fourth. The girls scooped up important relay points with the team of Dixon, M. Gentry, Kaster, and McKinney winning the 200 Freestyle Relay and the team of Dudley, Ellie Ray, A. Gentry, and Payne placing third.
The final events of the night showcased the Lady Arabian’s strength in the strokes. McIntyre placed second in the 100 Backstroke followed by Blosser in fourth and Alexis Sutton in fifth. The girls again swept an event with a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 Breaststroke led by Dudley then Ray then Jillian Jackson. And the win was secured with the final relay where the team of Link, Payne, Kaster, and McKinney won the 400 Freestyle Relay and the team of Dixon, Walters, A. Gentry, and McIntyre placed third.
The Lady Arabians will play host to Delta at home Thursday, January 14 at 5:30 pm.
