The weather was a little warmer than we would have liked for our first 18 hole tournament. We played Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton, Indiana. It’s a tough course 5033 yards long playing from the gold tee’s, lots of narrow fairways lined with trees, pleanty of water and sandtraps. 11 teams in the field and we finished 7th with a 397. Not our best scores. The girls have been playing really well at our home course and I think we all may have been putting pressure on ourselves to score well. Low Medalist for PHHS was Sophomore Kaylee McKenney with a 97, Senior Danielle Tinsley 98, Sophomore Grace Wiggins 101, Junior Ryann Norris 101, and Sophomore Kaitlynn Shamblin playing in her first 18 hole match with a 121. Most of the girls struggled at the beginning but settled down and started to play better as the day progressed. All in all I think a decent beginning to the season. I think if you keep watching you will see all these scores getting better and better as the girls settle into a groove. We play Mt. Vernon at Fall Creek Aug. 6 at 4:30 Great Job Girls and play well against Mt. Vernon.
