The Lady Arabians traveled to Shelbyville Tuesday night after a great weekend in New Palestine. The girls dominated the night earning wins in all but one event. The team of Lily Brooks, Kaitlyn Wheetley, Emma Robison, and Karly Riffey led the way in the Girls 200 Medley Relay with the B relay of Maddie Oliver, Catherine Dudley, Jaima Link, and Emma Weflen following in a very close second.
Grace McKinney, Maggie Miller, and Claire Wittkamper showed off the depth of the girl’s middle-distance swimmers by taking one, two, and three in the 200 Freestyle. This was followed by another trio of Emma Robison, Jaima Link, and Kaitlyn Wheetley who all showed strong performances in the 200 IM taking home first, second, and third. The teams fastest sprinter, Karly Riffey, took home her first individual win of the night in the 50 Freestyle with a time nearly 2 whole seconds ahead of second.
The lone diver, Reannin Donati scored a second place for the team, showing continual improvement on the year. The second half of the meet continued to be largely dominated by the Lady Arabians. Emma Robison and two stand-out freshmen on the team, Catherine Dudley and Jaima Link finished one, two, three in the 100 Fly. Karly Riffey earned another win in the meet in a tight race with one of Shelbyville’s strongest swimmers in the 100 Freestyle. Next was the powerful Freshman group of Grace McKinney, Claire Wittkamper, and Ella Dixon taking home the 500 Freestyle with a sweep, scoring one through three.
The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Maggie Miller, Kaitlyn Wheetley, Grace McKinney, and Jaima Link won with impressive fashion. The team finished eight seconds ahead of second and lead from the start.
The 100 Backstroke was won by Conference Champion Lily Brooks, who out-touched teammates Maggie Miller and Maddie Oliver who were able to seal a one, two, three finish. Next in line was the group of Kaitlyn Wheetley, Catherine Dudley, and Isabel Blosser finishing with another sweep in the 100 Breaststroke.
In the final event for the girls, the relay team of Karly Riffey, Grace McKinney, Lily Brooks, and Emma Robison sealed the dominating victory by the girl’s team with a blue ribbon finish.
On Thursday, January 10th the Girls Swimming and Diving team will look to swim inter-conference team Delta at home. Meet starts at 5:30 pm.
